Paris calls on Brussels to take action against Shein

Paris – The European Commission “must take action” and impose sanctions on Shein, which is “clearly violating European regulations,” stated Jean-Noël Barrot, head of diplomacy, on France Info radio Thursday.

A customs inspection of Shein packages at Roissy airport uncovered “non-compliant and illegal products: unauthorized cosmetics, hazardous toys for children, counterfeits, and faulty household appliances,” reported Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of Public Accounts, on X.

The EU acknowledges France’s concerns and is addressing the issue “very seriously,” according to Thomas Régnier, spokesperson for the Commission on digital matters.

Shein is currently undergoing a suspension process following the discovery of child-like sex dolls on its platform.

In a letter to Serge Papin, Minister of Commerce, president Donald Tang assured that the company would “adhere to all French laws.” (November 6, 2025)

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need, a fashion brand with the level of quality usually reserved for dodgy market stalls in the back alleys of Prague. 🇨🇿💁‍♂️ Who knew Brussels had a thing for playing Whac-A-Mole with rogue retailers?

Oh, grand news! Just what we need—more regulations on Shein while they’re busy selling dodgy dolls and toy grenades. Can’t wait for Brussels to fix this ‘serious’ dilemma, perhaps with a nice cup of café au lait on the side! 🇫🇷☕️

Oh, brilliant! Who would’ve thought that a company selling dodgy toys and fake cosmetics could be such a charming addition to the European market? Just what we needed, right? 😂

Oh là là, who knew a fashion brand could turn into an unlicensed toy factory and a dodgy cosmetics lab? 🚫💄 Just what we need, right—Brussels playing detective while Shein serves up a buffet of bizarre! 🤦‍♂️

Oh, brilliant move, isn’t it? Let’s just add “dodgy toys” to the French list of must-have souvenirs – next to the Eiffel Tower and overpriced croissants! 😂

Oh sure, let’s just impose sanctions on Shein while we’re at it—because nothing screams ‘Europe’ quite like fighting child-sized dolls with red tape! 😂 Just another day in the land of regulations and fine print, eh?

Oh great, another day, another fashion fiasco from Shein—who knew dodgy toys and counterfeit cosmetics were part of their ‘chic’ collection? 😂 Guess we’ll just have to send the whole lot back in a fancy baguette box, eh? 🥖

Looks like Shein’s taking “innovation” to a whole new level with their toy collection—who knew hazardous playthings were the next big thing? 🤷‍♂️ Typical fashion for the EU: a little late to the catwalk, but hey, better late than never, right? 😏

Oh, because nothing screams “European quality” like dodgy kid’s toys and suspicious cosmetics flying in from Shein, right? 🤷‍♂️ Might as well hand out a few berets and call it a day! 🥖

Looks like Shein’s just trying to keep the spirit of European innovation alive with their selection of “hazardous toys” and “counterfeits.” Who knew shopping could be such an exciting gamble? 😂

Looks like Shein’s just been handed a one-way ticket to the naughty corner by Paris! 🤷‍♂️ Can’t wait to see how many rules they can break before the EU decides to actually do something—maybe they need a proper cuppa for motivation! ☕️

So, we’re waiting for Brussels to finally get off their comfy chairs and do something about Shein, huh? Maybe they think “non-compliant” means it’s just a fashion statement. 😂

Oh, splendid! Nothing like a little bureaucratic ballet to tackle the pressing issue of dodgy toys and ‘unique’ cosmetics. 🤦‍♂️ Let’s hope the EU moves faster than a Frenchman in a café queue! 🍷

Oh lovely, just what we needed—Brussels springing into action like a sloth on espresso. Who knew the fashion world had such a flair for the dramatic? 😏👜

  15. Oh, brilliant! Who knew fashion could be so hazardous? Maybe they should just stick to selling baguettes instead of dodgy cosmetics and toys. 🤦‍♂️

  16. Oh, lovely, more red tape for Shein – because who doesn’t love a bit of bureaucracy to spice up their day? 😂 Maybe next they’ll ask for a detailed inspection of our breakfast croissants too! 🥐

  17. Looks like Shein’s idea of “European compliance” is just as fictional as a good French wine in a plastic bottle 🍷. Good luck sorting out that hot mess, Brussels! 🤦‍♂️

Looks like Shein’s new motto is “Come for the fashion, stay for the potential lawsuit!” 🇫🇷💼 Who knew dodgy toys and questionable cosmetics were the latest Parisian chic? 😂

Oh brilliant, just what we needed—another shopping platform trying to turn Paris into a dodgy flea market. At this rate, I might as well start selling baguettes with a side of counterfeit cosmetics! 🍞💄
