Paris Advocates for European-Level Visa Issuance Restrictions on Migrations

Paris – On Wednesday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced his intention to propose a simultaneous reduction of visa issuances by all European nations for countries that refuse to accept their expelled nationals.

During an interview on France 2, Barrot stated, “If a country does not cooperate with French authorities, I will advocate for all European countries to impose restrictions on visa issuances at the same time.” This declaration came just hours before an inter-ministerial meeting focused on immigration control, amid an ongoing diplomatic tension with Algeria.

Barrot emphasized that individual national measures have proven ineffective, saying, “When we take action on a national level, it unfortunately doesn’t yield the desired results.”

On the other hand, he suggested that the European Union should lower customs duties for nations that demonstrate improved cooperation in the repatriation of their nationals, calling this approach “a particularly powerful lever.”

“To achieve maximum effectiveness in our migration policies, many strategies will be far more impactful when implemented at the European level,” the minister stated. (February 26, 2025)

Isn’t it just charming how our dear foreign minister thinks a European-wide visa tantrum will solve migration like some sort of bureaucratic magic trick? 🎩✨ Next, maybe he’ll suggest we all wear matching hats while we’re at it! 😂

  2. Oh, brilliant idea, mate! Because nothing screams “European unity” like punishing countries with visa restrictions while we sip our espressos and pretend we’re all on the same team. 🍷✈️

Oh, brilliant—nothing says “let’s unite Europe” quite like a game of bureaucratic chicken over visas! 🙄 What’s next, a Eurovision contest for best excuses to avoid responsibility? 🎤

  4. Another brilliant idea from the City of Lights—because nothing says “welcome” quite like a unified visa blockade! 🤦‍♂️ Just what we need: more paperwork and fewer holidays. Cheers to diplomatic genius! 🌍✈️

Oh sure, because nothing screams “united front” like a bunch of countries collectively punishing each other for not playing nice. 🙄 How very ‘European Union’ of us—let’s just hope the spaghetti doesn’t get tangled in all this diplomacy! 🍝
