Mr. Tzitzikostas: European Budget for Infrastructure and Transport Set to Double

Following the College of Commissioners’ decision on the new EU budget for 2028 – 2034, Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, issued a statement:

“The European Commission’s proposal to increase the budget for infrastructure and transport from €25.6 billion to €51.7 billion, alongside a tenfold increase in the military mobility budget from €1.7 billion to €17 billion, reflects a significant political choice. This move shows that the European Union prioritizes investments that truly impact citizens’ daily lives, promoting cohesion, competitiveness, and security. Modern infrastructure, smart transport systems, agile military logistics, vibrant tourism, and competitive shipping are essential for a robust single market, effective defense, and thriving entrepreneurship. The new budget for infrastructure and transport is thus a considerable achievement for Europe, the result of our diligent efforts. Most importantly, it represents a victory for all European citizens and businesses. This funding translates into improved infrastructure and transport networks, safer and quicker mobility, a strengthened economy, more job and development opportunities, reduced costs, and stable investments.

Notably, this budget marks the first explicit emphasis on tourism as a key EU priority. It also ensures that our country receives a larger share of the new European Budget, leading to increased investments, more projects, and broader opportunities for all across our nation. This underscores Greece’s developmental potential and enhanced role within the EU. Europe is evolving with a more strategic approach, a flexible budget, streamlined processes, and greater efficiency. Our aim is to enhance the quality of life for all citizens. This is the objective we pursue through our daily efforts, and this budget serves as a crucial tool for achieving it.” (16/7/25)

So, we’re doubling the budget for infrastructure, eh? Guess it’s time to finally fix that pothole outside my office… or at least decorate it with a nice EU flag! 😂💶

Looks like doubling the budget is the EU’s idea of a magic trick—poof, more money for roads and tanks! 🚀 But let’s hope they don’t just pave the way to another bureaucratic circus. 🎪

Oh great, doubling the budget – because nothing screams “we care about your daily commute” quite like a fancy new budget that’ll probably get lost in the labyrinth of bureaucracy. 🚀💸

Doubling the budget for infrastructure and transport? Must be nice to have pockets deep enough to swim in euros while the rest of us are just trying to find a decent bus on a rainy Tuesday. 🚍💸

Doubling the budget, eh? Sounds like someone’s finally realized that roads won’t pave themselves while we sit around discussing the latest coffee blends in Brussels! 🚧💰

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—more money thrown at roads and trains while we’re all still trying to figure out public Wi-Fi. 🚄💸 Looks like the EU is doubling down on infrastructure, because nothing says “priorities” like fancy bridges over potholes! 😂

Looks like the EU’s finally decided that a few more billion for potholes and trains might just make our lives a tad less like a scene from a bad road trip movie. 🚗💨 Who knew infrastructure could be such a hot topic? 🤷‍♂️

In a groundbreaking twist, it seems the EU has finally discovered that spending more money might just lead to better roads and trains—who would’ve thought? 🚜💸 Next thing you know, they’ll be doubling down on the importance of actually fixing those potholes instead of just debating them over a nice cup of espresso. ☕️🤷‍♂️

Oh, brilliant! A double budget for infrastructure and transport—because clearly, we’ve all been crying out for more roads to nowhere and trains that run on optimism. 🚄💸

Oh great, double the budget means double the chance of traffic jams and construction sites, right? 🚧 Just what we need—more roads to nowhere and a military budget that could give James Bond envy! 😂

A sanctions package may appear decisive in Brussels but can falter at the border, within a bank’s compliance team, or in a national courtroom.
