Manufacturers Claim a 100% Electric Automobile Market by 2035 is “Unattainable”

Paris – The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) and the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (Clepa) express in a joint letter that “the strict CO2 emission targets for cars and vans set for 2030 and 2035 are, in the current context, simply unachievable.”

Both organizations advocate for a recalibration of the existing roadmap for CO2 emission reductions in road transport. They emphasize the need to align with the EU’s climate objectives while maintaining Europe’s industrial competitiveness, social harmony, and the strategic resilience of supply chains.

While manufacturers and suppliers do not explicitly call for delaying the ban on gasoline vehicle sales in 2035, they urge a revision of the standards to incorporate hybrid vehicles, range-extended models (which use a gasoline engine to charge a battery), “highly efficient” gasoline engines, and still-developing synthetic fuels. Looks like the dream of a 100% electric car market by 2035 is about as realistic as finding a decent croissant in London. 🍞 Maybe we should just stick to our “highly efficient” gas guzzlers for a bit longer, eh? 😂

So, we’re aiming for a 100% electric auto market by 2035, eh? That’s rich! 🤪 Might as well ask for flying cars while we’re at it – at this rate, I’ll just stick to my trusty ol’ diesel! 🚗💨

Looks like the car makers want to pump the brakes on their lofty electric dreams—who needs clean air when we can wrestle with hybrids and synthetic fuels instead? 😂🚗💨

So, let me get this straight: we’re aiming for 100% electric by 2035, but our car makers are throwing their hands up like a French waiter caught in a rainstorm? Classic! 😂🚗

Seems like 2035 is just a fancy date for a lovely holiday in La-La Land, where we all drive electric unicorns instead of dealing with pesky reality. 🤷‍♂️ #DreamBig

Oh, sure, let’s just wave a magic wand and make all those petrolheads disappear by 2035, right? 😂 Because who needs a realistic plan when you can just throw in a sprinkle of electric fairy dust!

Looks like the dream of a 100% electric car utopia by 2035 is about as realistic as a Parisian getting up early on a Sunday. 😏 Maybe we should just stick to charging our phones instead!
