“People want to discuss whether we can improve. If you believe everything is perfect, don’t vote for me.”
Powell expressed her desire for Angela Rayner, Labour’s deputy leader who resigned after a tax scandal, to return to front-line politics and end her silence following the resignation.
She described Rayner’s departure as a “huge, huge loss” and believes Rayner can “definitely” return, considering her “still a leading figure in the party.”
“I’m sure she will soon express her views, and she will likely enjoy the freedom of not being in government,” Powell said, adding: “She has much to say, and I want to hear from her.”
Labour’s conference has focused on criticizing Nigel Farage’s Reform UK, which has been ahead in the polls, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer labeling Reform’s immigration policies as “immoral” and “racist.”
Powell remarked: “I don’t consider Nigel Farage a racist, particularly,” but noted that “some of his policies” are, while cautioning against her party discussing “Nigel Farage too much.”
