Kremlin Monitors Trump’s Remarks Closely

Moscow (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – President Donald Trump’s statements are being closely monitored by Russia, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who made the comment on Sunday.

In the past week, US President Donald Trump has indeed spoken harshly about Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin. He issued a stark ultimatum giving Putin two weeks to prove he is serious about ending the war in Ukraine, warning that if Putin is “tapping us along,” the U.S. will respond differently.

How is Russia reacting to Trump’s harsh language?

“We are monitoring very closely every word he says, every emphasis he makes. But we must react calmly,”

Peskov said.

Moreover, the official stated that Russia is mainly driven by its own interests when re-establishing relations with the US.

“Our our national interests are paramount to us, and it is in our interest to continue renewing our US-Russian bilateral relations,”

he emphasised.

What ultimatum has Trump given President Putin on Ukraine?

According to reports, Trump has seemingly given Vladimir Putin a two-week deadline to take action on Ukraine. He warned of a different response if Putin continues to mislead him. Trump said he would know in two weeks if Putin was “stringing us along”. He expressed strong disappointment at the recent wave of missile and drone attacks by Russia and hinted at the possibility of increasing sanctions against Russia.

Trump has also criticised Putin, saying that he is “playing with fire” and has gone “absolutely crazy.” Trump stated that if it weren’t for him, “lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia”. He also said that Putin’s actions would “lead to the downfall of Russia.”

Has Trump’s stance on Ukraine changed in recent days?

Trump’s comments follow increased Russian attacks on Ukraine, which he described as “needless killing of many people”. He mentioned rockets being shot into cities and stated, “We aren’t going to allow it.”

Despite his harsh rhetoric, Trump has also maintained that he has had a good personal rapport with Putin in the past but is now frustrated by Putin’s aggressive actions. However, while condemning Putin’s attacks, Trump has so far stopped short of joining European allies in imposing new sanctions or providing additional military support to Ukraine, indicating a cautious approach to escalation.
