Koksijde Teacher Suspended Amid Misconduct Allegations

Koksijde (Eurotoday Newspaper) – A teacher from Ter Duinen Hotel School in Koksijde was suspended after alleged misconduct during a trip abroad. Principal Peter Verbeke confirmed police involvement and a disciplinary investigation.

As HLN News reported, a teacher from the Ter Duinen Hotel School in Koksijde, in the province of West Flanders, Belgium, has been suspended following allegations of inappropriate behaviour during a school trip abroad.

The incident reportedly took place while students and staff were participating in an extracurricular activity. A student later contacted the authorities, leading to both a school disciplinary investigation and a police inquiry.

What led to the suspension of a Koksijde teacher abroad?

Principal Peter Verbeke confirmed that the school acted immediately after receiving the complaint.

“A few days ago, we suspended one of our teachers, and a disciplinary investigation is now underway,”

he said.

“The police have also been informed. We cannot give more details at this time, but every report is treated with the greatest seriousness.”

School management said the decision was made to ensure a fair process and to protect everyone involved.

The teacher will remain suspended until both investigations are completed. Authorities are working closely with the school to review the facts. School officials said their main concern is the safety and well-being of students and that every effort is being made to maintain a respectful and secure learning environment.

In Belgium, this is not the first time a teacher has faced suspension over allegations of misconduct involving students. In a previous case, a teacher at a vocational nursing school in Lier was removed from duty after students reported receiving inappropriate messages and requests for photos. Another incident occurred in 2019 at a school in Izegem, where a teacher was accused of having an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student, leading to an internal and legal review.

Similar concerns have also been reported abroad, including an October 2022 case where a sports teacher on a school trip to Belgium was disciplined for allowing underage students to drink alcohol.

Guess teaching abroad comes with a few unexpected extracurricular activities. Who knew a school trip could turn into a scandalous episode of “Where’s the Teacher?” 🤷‍♂️

Seems like the Koksijde teacher thought “extracurricular activities” meant something a bit too adventurous for the class trip. 😂 Can’t wait to see how this one plays out in the court of public opinion!

  3. Seems like the only lesson this teacher’s teaching is how to get suspended faster than you can say “school trip”! 🍻✈️

Typical, innit? Just when you think a teacher’s only job is to school the kids, they decide to give ’em a lesson in misconduct instead. 😂

Looks like this teacher took “field trip” a bit too literally, eh? 🤔 Can’t wait to see the “educational” PowerPoint on how not to behave abroad!

Seems like the Ter Duinen Hotel School is giving a masterclass in how *not* to conduct a field trip. 🎓✈️ Who knew educational excursions came with a side of scandal?

Looks like the teacher took “extracurricular activities” a bit too literally this time. Guess the only lesson here is that not all field trips should include a trip to the police station! 🤷‍♂️📚

Seems like this teacher thought a school trip was a ticket to a different kind of lesson plan. Can’t wait to see how this one ends—maybe a masterclass in ‘what not to do’? 😂

  12. Isn’t it simply delightful how our educators are turning school trips into a one-way ticket to the principal’s office? Can’t wait to see the syllabus for “Misconduct 101” next semester! 😂

Looks like the teacher thought a school trip was just a fancy excuse for a holiday, huh? 🤷‍♂️ Next time, perhaps they should stick to the syllabus instead of the scandal!

Seems like the Ter Duinen Hotel School found a new definition for “extracurricular activities” – maybe next time they’ll stick to classic school trips instead of a scandalous episode worthy of a soap opera! 🤦‍♂️

Nothing screams “world-class education” like a school trip turning into a police investigation! Guess some teachers took the ‘hands-on’ approach a bit too literally, eh? 😏

Just what we needed, another teacher showing us why school trips should come with a “no funny business” clause. 🧐 Can’t wait for the next parent-teacher meeting to discuss “extracurricular activities”! 🤦‍♂️

Seems like the Ter Duinen Hotel School is really stepping up their game in the “how to ruin a school trip” department! 🎓✈️ Can’t wait for the next episode of “Belgium’s Wildest Teachers!” 😂
