Rasmussen stated, “We will not take part in further meetings with [Frederiksen] unless she takes that request seriously,” advocating for the inclusion of center-right parties in government talks, as negotiations with left-wing parties over two weeks had achieved minimal progress.
Referred to as the kingmaker, Rasmussen is urging Frederiksen to “pause” the pursuit of a center-left government and engage with Troels Lund Poulsen, the leader of the center-right Venstre party, who had contested her for the prime minister position as deputy PM in the previous coalition government.
On Friday, Poulsen reached out to Rasmussen to explore potential cooperation on economic policy, which Danish analysts believe influenced Rasmussen’s decision to urge Frederiksen to disengage from the left-wing “red bloc.”
