Ireland’s President ‘Proud’ of Sister Detained by Israel on Gaza Route

Earlier, the Israeli Foreign Ministry dismissed the flotilla as “a provocation for the sake of provocation” aimed to serve Hamas, divert attention from Hamas’ refusal to disarm, and obstruct progress on President Trump’s peace plan.

Israel’s foreign press department didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

In Dublin, the Department of Foreign Affairs stated it was “actively monitoring” the flotilla, which activists live-streamed on Monday as Israeli vessels intercepted and boarded their ships. Most of the flotilla had departed Sunday from Turkey’s Marmaris port, some after traveling from Italy.

Flotilla activists released a pre-recorded message from Margaret Connolly announcing her detention by Israel.

“If you are watching this video, it means I have been kidnapped from my boat in the flotilla by the Israeli occupying forces and am now being held illegally in an Israeli prison,” she said, holding her Irish passport and wearing a T-shirt with an outline map of Ireland.

“The cause of Palestine is the moral compass of our time. It is what makes us human,” she added. “Palestinians will save our humanity.”

Margaret Connolly’s detention coincided with the start of her sister’s three-day visit to the U.K. as Ireland’s head of state.

During her Buckingham Palace meeting with the king, President Connolly issued an official invitation to the monarch to visit Ireland. King Charles’ late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2011 became the only reigning British monarch to visit the Republic of Ireland since its 1922 independence.

Seems like Ireland’s President is channeling her inner superhero while her sister plays the damsel in distress—who knew family reunions could involve international maritime drama? 😂 #FlotillaFiasco

Seems like we’re all just a bunch of performers in this grand theatre of international relations, eh? 🎭 Nothing like a little boat drama to liven up a state visit!

Oh, brilliant! Nothing like a sisterly bonding trip to the Gaza Strip to showcase modern diplomacy—who needs a quiet tea with the King when you can be the star of an international hostage situation? 😂

Imagine being so proud of your sister getting “kidnapped” on a boat trip while you’re busy charming the royals. Classic family bonding, eh? 😂

Seems like a family reunion took a detour into some rather ‘exciting’ waters. Nothing says “I’m proud of my sister” quite like a dramatic detention—just a classic Irish twist on diplomacy, innit? 🇮🇪🚤

Oh, brilliant move, isn’t it? While one sister is in a fancy palace chatting with royalty, the other is playing hide and seek with Israeli forces. Talk about keeping the family busy! 😂🇮🇪

Oh, brilliant timing, isn’t it? Just when you thought family reunions couldn’t get any more awkward than a chat with the Queen, here we are with an impromptu hostage situation! 😂

Seems like being the sister of a president is the best way to get a one-way ticket to an Israeli prison these days. Who knew family ties could land you in such a sticky situation? 😏✈️

Seems like being “proud” runs in the family—who knew you could add “detained by Israel” to the CV of a President’s sister? 🍀 Just another day in the world of international diplomacy, eh?

So, let me get this straight: while one sister’s in a cozy chat with the King, the other is giving Israel a freebie on their “detention tourism” package. What a lovely family outing! 😂✈️

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “diplomatic finesse” like having your sister detained while you’re busy schmoozing with royalty. Guess the flotilla’s just a family bonding experience, eh? 🙄🚤

Seems like Ireland’s President is really bringing family bonding to a whole new level—nothing says “sisterly love” quite like a detainment in a foreign prison, right? 😂 Who needs a diplomatic visit when you can spice things up with a little drama on the high seas?

Isn’t it just grand how one can be both a president and a family member in international drama? Makes the daily grind of paperwork seem a tad boring, eh? 😂

Seems like the only thing getting more attention than the flotilla is the royal tea party in Buckingham—who knew parallel parking a boat could be so politically charged? 🤷‍♂️🇮🇪

Just brilliant, isn’t it? Nothing like a royal tête-à-tête while your sister’s playing hide and seek with the Israeli Navy. Talk about family bonding! 😂🇮🇪

Just what we needed, a bit of family drama on the high seas! 🍵 Who knew a royal visit could get overshadowed by a sisterly abduction? Classic! 😂

Seems like the Connolly sisters are making a real family tradition out of getting into sticky situations, eh? Nothing screams “family bonding” quite like one sister in Buckingham Palace while the other’s practicing for her role in a new Israeli drama series. 😂

Guess it takes a true family commitment to turn a diplomatic tête-à-tête into a dramatic hostage situation. A round of applause for the new way to engage in international relations, eh? 🎭
