Hasselt (Eurotoday) – Hasselt will host its first-ever Limburg Pride on July 13, 2025, featuring a colorful parade and vibrant festival. Belgian TV icon Luc Appermont and rising star actor Wannes Lacroix will co-host the event, which aims to celebrate and promote LGBTQ+ inclusion and diversity throughout the Limburg region.
The city of Hasselt, Belgium, is gearing up for this landmark celebration, organized by the local LGBTQ+ community. The event will be a festive and inclusive occasion that embraces people from all walks of life. Organisers promise a dynamic parade filled with music, dancing, and rainbow flags, followed by a lively festival with food, entertainment, and community camaraderie. Everyone is encouraged to join in and show their support for equality and diversity in the heart of Limburg.
Luc Appermont and Wannes Lacroix to Lead Hasselt’s First Limburg Pride
Leading the festivities are two familiar faces: Luc Appermont, a beloved television presenter, and Wannes Lacroix, a talented young actor. Their involvement brings both experience and fresh energy to the initiative. Appermont expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying he accepted the invitation without hesitation.
“I didn’t have to think about it for too long,”
He added:
“When people from Limburg ask me something, I say ‘yes’ more easily. And I also think it’s a really nice initiative. Everyone is part of the same family and if we can promote mutual respect, I’m happy to help. But I’m definitely not going to present it all by myself, because the new Limburg top talent and actor Wannes from Bocholt will be accompanying me.”
Wannes Lacroix, who has previously participated in Antwerp Pride, is excited to co-host the very first Limburg Pride in his home region. He sees this as a unique opportunity not only to learn from Appermont but also to contribute meaningfully to a movement he deeply believes in.
Lacroix emphasized the importance of addressing social issues that still affect the LGBTQ+ community, including homophobia. He believes events like Limburg Pride play a critical role in both celebrating identity and continuing the conversation about acceptance.
“I talk about it openly and want to discuss the issue because I notice on the street that it is still a big problem. We don’t want to pump unnecessary negativity into it, but we also have to dare to name the problem,”
Lacroix’s commitment to visibility and dialogue highlights the significance of the event not just as a celebration, but also as a platform for awareness and solidarity. He hopes that Limburg Pride will inspire a more inclusive future for the region and beyond.

Isn’t it just delightful that Hasselt, renowned for its chocolates and now apparently its rainbow flags, has decided to host its first Pride? I can already see the local chocolatiers sweating over how to turn their sweets into an Instagrammable spectacle. 🍬🌈

Oh look, Hasselt is finally catching up with the rest of Belgium—who knew all it took was a couple of TV celebs to wave some rainbow flags and call it progress? 🌈 Can’t wait to see if they serve fries with that pride! 😏
