Halle (Eurotoday): An ice rink in Halle, organized by Frank Vannerom, opens on December 12 for the holidays. Entry costs €10, and a winter terrace will enhance the experience.
An ice rink is being built at Stationsplein in Halle and will open on December 12 until the end of the Christmas holidays. Frank Vannerom, the organizer, said it was tricky to set up because of nearby construction, but they managed to put the tent in a good spot. This year, the entrance will be next to the station, and they changed the layout of the rink, which Frank thinks will help if the weather causes freezing issues again.
What are the updates regarding ice skating in Halle this year, including pricing and new features?
Last year, when the ice rink melted, it caused problems as the water froze on the street, making it slippery and forcing part of Vandepeereboomstraat to close. Frank mentioned they had to finish clearing Stationsplein on time, which made it hard to decide whether to wait for the ice to melt. This year, skating in Halle will cost 10 euros, which is 1 euro more than last year. Frank said organizing the rink is getting harder, and while they want to keep prices low, they also need extra money for improvements.
Halle is building a winter terrace for the first time, which will take over some space from the winter pub due to construction. This will let people enjoy food and drinks next to the ice rink, like in other cities. The ice rink is also covered, so it stays open even when the weather is bad, with only strong storms stopping people from skating.
