
Since January, the EU has welcomed a new Commission amidst ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, along with the inauguration of a new US President on January 20, whose policies significantly influence current affairs. During this hectic period, Kaja Kallas, the EU’s newly appointed High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EU Commission, made time for an extensive interview with the European Newsroom.
Tim Kohnen from the enr team, alongside eight journalists representing 23 participating agencies, engaged with Kaja Kallas in a virtual interview session. Participants included representatives from ANSA (Italy), AMNA (Greece), AFP (France), Agerpres (Romania), TT (Sweden), Lusa (Portugal), CTK (Czechia), and dpa (Germany). Additional questions were submitted by other agencies and posed during the interview, showcasing the cooperative spirit and teamwork among the agencies within the European Newsroom.
During the interview, Kaja Kallas addressed various topics, including the EU’s relationship with the new US administration, the situation in Gaza, Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine, as well as issues concerning Serbia, Romania, Syria, and conflicts across Africa.
