Former prime minister and presidential candidate Gabriel Attal has lodged a complaint regarding an alleged Russian disinformation campaign targeting the upcoming French presidential election, as reported by local news outlets.
Attal’s legal representatives informed French media that the complaint, submitted on Friday, addresses “acts of foreign interference, manipulation of information, and fabrication of content that could harm the nation’s fundamental interests and the integrity of the upcoming presidential election.”
According to BFMTV, his lawyers stated that multiple accounts on social network X, some posing as French and international media, spread fake video reports and newspaper articles falsely attributing statements to Attal with the intention of undermining his candidacy.
