Funeral for Denny Verbiest Scheduled in Aalst on April 19, 2025

Aalst (Eurotoday) – Denny Verbiest, the creator of Samson, will be laid to rest at the Siesegem crematorium in Aalst on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Due to the expected large turnout, local police will deploy additional officers to manage traffic and ensure public safety.

Originally from Dilbeek, Verbiest was initially to be buried there. However, the funeral home in Dilbeek decided to relocate the ceremony to a larger venue to accommodate the anticipated crowd.

In coordination with Verbiest’s family and Studio 100, the company he collaborated with, it was agreed that the funeral would instead take place at the Siesegem crematorium in Aalst. Authorities noted that the facility has sufficient capacity for everyone wishing to pay their final respects.

How Aalst is Preparing for Denny Verbiest’s Funeral on April 19

The Aalst police are preparing for a significant number of attendees. Additional officers will be deployed around the crematorium to manage traffic flow and maintain safety throughout the event.

According to police spokeswoman Lisa Wynendaele, the extra personnel will assist with guiding vehicles, ensuring safety, and supporting mourners arriving for the service. Coordination is underway between the police, funeral organizers, and local authorities to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.

“We assume that many people will come to Aalst to pay their last respects to Verbiest, and that is why we are initially deploying extra traffic police anyway,”

said Lisa Wynendaele.

While there are no specific threats or concerns, police officers will remain present throughout the ceremony to respond to any issues that may arise due to the large crowd.

“We do not expect any security problems, but it is always good to be prepared for anything when there are a lot of people in a place,”

Wynendaele added.
