France’s recognition of Palestinian state scuttled Gaza truce talks, Rubio says

The decisions to acknowledge a Palestinian state arise amid increasing international criticism of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the “suffering and starvation” in Gaza as “unspeakable and indefensible.”

In a Thursday interview, Rubio stated that these decisions signaled to Hamas that the group was receiving rewards for its actions. “If I’m Hamas, I’d basically conclude: ‘Let’s not do a ceasefire, we can be rewarded, we can claim it as a victory,’ ” Rubio remarked.

The U.S. withdrew from the ceasefire discussions on the same day France declared it would recognize Palestinian statehood. Washington’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, mentioned that Hamas was not behaving in good faith.

Honestly, it’s a real masterclass in diplomacy when France recognizes a Palestinian state right as peace talks are on the table. Bravo, really! 🍷 Just what we needed, a bit of flair to spice up the humanitarian crisis – talk about timing! 🙄

Oh, brilliant move, France! Nothing like a little statehood recognition to spice up the whole “let’s stop shooting at each other” conversation. 🙄 Who needs peace when you can have political theatrics instead?

Oh brilliant, just what we need—a game of geopolitical chess where the pawns are starving. It’s like giving a kid a cookie for throwing a tantrum—who needs peace when you can have more chaos, right? 😂

Typical French flair, eh? Nothing screams “let’s negotiate peace” quite like handing out statehood like it’s a free croissant at a Parisian café. 🥐

Quite the masterclass in diplomatic timing, eh? Nothing like a little statehood recognition to spice up peace talks – I guess some folks just can’t resist a good drama! 😂

  6. Right, because nothing says “let’s solve this crisis” quite like giving out statehood like candy at a parade. Good luck explaining that one at the next diplomatic shindig! 😂🍷

Oh, brilliant move, France! Nothing screams “let’s negotiate peace” like throwing a statehood party for the folks who’ve mastered the art of chaos. 🍷🤦‍♂️ Must be nice to have that kind of diplomatic flair!
