France and Britain Plan Ground Role as Ukraine Deal Approaches

The coalition, an alliance including France, Germany, Britain, Belgium, Canada, Turkey, and others, formed recently due to European concerns about America’s support for Ukraine. Members, like France and the U.K., have offered different levels of support, including sending national troops to enforce the deal and deter Russian aggression.

The group has considered a “reassurance force” offering air and naval support to Ukraine and aims to rejuvenate Ukraine’s military. A U.K. spokesperson stated they’re willing to deploy troops to secure peace, while Macron emphasized that this force would stay “far from the frontline,” potentially stationed in Kyiv or Odessa. He also mentioned an air reassurance force based in neighboring countries to assist the Ukrainian air force.

Macron reassured the public, saying: “We shouldn’t sow panic,” recognizing domestic apprehension about immediate troop deployment, which he denied. Germany remains cautious, with Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul citing Germany’s existing brigade in Lithuania as part of its substantial regional involvement, which he considers “sufficient.”

There are questions about the U.S.’s role and the effectiveness of European forces. Russia has dismissed a Europe-backed peace plan.

Oh great, just what we need—more European troops on a “holiday” in Ukraine while they assure us they’re “far from the frontline.” I suppose it’s like sending your mates to a pub just to tell everyone you’re still on the football team! 🍻

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “we’ve got your back” like a bunch of European leaders sending troops to stand in Kyiv while they sip their espressos in safety. 🍷🛡️

Oh brilliant, just what we need – a European coalition to babysit Ukraine while keeping a safe distance. Maybe they should add a “watch and sip” brigade for optimal effectiveness! 🍷😏

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—a “reassurance force” that’ll probably be stationed in a cozy café while the actual fighting happens miles away. Makes you wonder if they’ll be serving croissants and tea while they’re at it! 😏🥐

Oh, brilliant! Nothing like a bunch of European leaders sending troops to “deter” aggression while ensuring they’re not too close to the action. It’s like sending a waiter to the kitchen but asking them to stay in the dining room! 🍷😂

So, let me get this straight: Europe’s got a new club for “peacekeeping” while everyone else keeps their distance—sounds like a lovely holiday in a war zone! 😂 Just a tip, lads: maybe next time, try sending some croissants instead of troops! 🥐

Oh, brilliant! A European ‘reassurance force’ to calm the nerves while keeping a safe distance—sounds like a top-notch plan for a game of musical chairs, eh? 🇫🇷💂‍♂️ Keep the troops cozy and the headlines flowin’!

Oh, splendid! Just what we need—more European nations throwing troops at a problem while keeping them “far from the frontline.” It’s almost like they think sending a handful of soldiers will magically fix things over there. 😂

So, let me get this straight – Europe’s finest are gearing up for a grand tour in Ukraine, but with the troops hanging out “far from the frontline”? Sounds like a classic European vacation, minus the sunshine! 😂✈️

  10. Just what we need, another European coalition with more meetings than results. Who knew a “reassurance force” could be stationed so far from the action? 😂

Oh brilliant, just what we need—more troops in Europe! Because nothing says “peace” like a bunch of well-meaning bureaucrats in uniforms, far away from the action, sipping lattes while the world burns. 🤷‍♂️

Oh, brilliant idea! Let’s send in the troops while keeping them “far from the frontline” – sounds a bit like sending a cat to guard a fishbowl, doesn’t it? 😏

Looks like the Europeans are really stepping up to play the heroes, eh? Troops in the name of peace while keeping a safe distance—classic! 🇫🇷🕶️
