Foreign Minister on Poland’s railway sabotage: Russian attacks are growing bolder

The head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, stated on Wednesday that the attack on railway tracks in Poland represents an unprecedented threat to European transport infrastructure. She highlighted that Russian attacks are becoming increasingly audacious.

According to Kallas, the sabotage incidents on the Polish railway signify the necessity for the European Union to enhance military mobility investments.

“Our critical infrastructure needs improved protection. The swift movement of European armed forces is vital for our defense. We must ensure that the appropriate forces are positioned correctly and promptly,” Kallas noted.

During a press conference with other commissioners, Kallas unveiled a package of measures related to military mobility, which aims to create a “military Schengen zone” within the EU. This package includes efforts to eliminate obstacles to the movement of troops and equipment and to streamline legal and customs processes.

“The speed of movement hinges on several factors. Can our roads, tunnels, and bridges handle the weight? Are there sufficient designated routes for troop transport? Do we have enough flatbed cars? What documentation is required for border crossings during training or crises? It is simple: the quicker we can deploy forces, the stronger our deterrence and defense will be. We need to aim for days, not weeks, for troop movements in Europe,” Kallas stressed.

There were two sabotage incidents reported on the route from Warsaw to Dorohusk between November 15-17. The first incident occurred in the village of Mika (Masovian Voivodeship, Garwolin County), where an explosive device detonated, damaging the railway track. In another location near the Gołąb railway station (Puławy County, Lublin Voivodeship), a train carrying 475 passengers was forced to brake suddenly due to a compromised railway line.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski remarked on Wednesday in the Sejm that this was not merely an act of sabotage, but rather an act of state terrorism. (11.19.2025)

Quite the bold move, eh? I suppose when your idea of diplomacy is blowing up railway tracks, you really are raising the bar for ‘infrastructure investment’! 🚂💥

  2. Doesn’t it just warm your heart to see European politicos finally realizing that trains and bombs don’t go together? 🤦‍♂️ Maybe next they’ll propose a ‘no explosives’ sign for the tracks – that should really do the trick! 🚂✨

Oh, fantastic! Just what we needed—more ‘unprecedented threats’ to jazz up our train rides. Who knew Russian audacity would become the latest European trend? 🚆💥

Oh brilliant, just what we needed—more military mobility discussions while the Russians play ‘pin the tail on the railway.’ Who knew sabotage would become a trendy sport in Poland? 😂

  9. So, let me get this straight: we need a “military Schengen zone” just to move our troops around Europe faster than a Sunday driver? Brilliant! 🚄💨

Just what we needed! A “military Schengen zone” to help us zip troops around Europe like it’s a bloody train show. 🚆💨 Who needs peace when we can have quick deployments?
