European Commission condemns Israeli attack on Gaza hospital

The Israeli strike on the Nasser hospital in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in at least 20 fatalities on Monday, including five journalists, has been labeled as “completely unacceptable” by European Commission spokesman Anouar El Anouni in Brussels on Tuesday.

“Civilians and journalists must be safeguarded under international law,” he stated at a press conference, adding that the residents of Gaza “have endured too much suffering and for too long,” and called for an end to the cycle of violence.

The attack on the Nasser hospital in Khan Younis took place on Monday morning, causing the death of at least 20 individuals, including journalists from Al Jazeera, Reuters, AP, and NBC, according to local authorities under Hamas control.

Reports indicated that the hospital was initially struck by one rocket, followed by a second strike shortly after rescue teams arrived on the scene. Among the casualties were also rescuers, and dozens sustained injuries from the attack.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referred to the incident as a “tragic accident.”

French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attack as “unacceptable,” stressing the imperative to protect civilians and journalists at all times and urging Israel to adhere to international law.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy expressed his horror over the attack on platform X and called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

U.S. President Donald Trump, when questioned by reporters about the attack, stated he was unaware of it and expressed his discontent, noting that “serious diplomatic efforts are ongoing in the Gaza Strip.” (27.08.2025)

Looks like the European Commission has suddenly discovered that hospitals in war zones are not exactly ideal targets. Who would’ve thought, right? 🤔

Looks like the European Commission’s condemnation is as effective as a chocolate teapot—everyone’s still playing hot potato with lives in Gaza. Can’t wait for the next round of “who can say the most impactful words”! 🍫🫖

Typical, innit? Just when you think the world can’t get any madder, a hospital gets bombed and everyone’s all shocked—like it’s a surprise in a soap opera. 🤦‍♂️

  4. Isn’t it just splendid how the European Commission takes time out from their busy schedule of, well, doing nothing, to label an attack “completely unacceptable”? 🙄 Maybe next time they’ll whip up a strongly worded letter or two – that should do the trick!

Seems like the European Commission has found its voice again—who knew they could make such a robust statement from the comfy sidelines? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they should consider a career in stand-up comedy; their timing is impeccable!

Typical! Nothing like a bit of international law being tossed around like confetti at a wedding, eh? 🎉 But hey, who needs rules when you can have “tragic accidents”? 🤷‍♂️

Seems like the European Commission’s got their priorities in order—nothing like a strong statement to really shake things up! 🙄 Meanwhile, Gaza’s just another episode of a never-ending soap opera, innit?

Seems like the European Commission has found their new hobby: issuing sternly worded statements. I mean, who doesn’t love a good “completely unacceptable” while the world’s on fire? 😏💼

What a surprise, more “completely unacceptable” behavior from the region’s finest, eh? One would think we’re living in a soap opera where the scriptwriters are on holiday! 🤦‍♂️

Seems the European Commission has found its voice again, but let’s hope it’s not just another grandstanding performance like a bad opera—lots of emotion but no real action, eh? 🎭✌️
