Individuals with disabilities and families in need in Kamza, Albania, will benefit from a new service backed by the European Union.
The EU4SocialCare project, which supports these individuals and families, is valued at 3.1 million euros and encompasses 14 municipalities in Albania.
Launched in 2023 and set to conclude in 2026, the project aims to enhance partnerships and local capabilities for planning, executing, and expanding social care services.
The municipalities involved include Gjirokastër, Vorë, Cërrik, Librazhd, Kavajë, Kurbin, Kukës, Krujë, Pogradec, Korçë, Kamzë, Vlorë, Elbasan, and Durrës.
As part of the initiative, a fully accessible vehicle has been introduced in Kamza to assist persons with disabilities in accessing medical appointments, public offices, and essential services, addressing transportation challenges that hinder their fundamental rights.
Kamza’s mayor, Rakip Suli, emphasized that this social transport service represents a significant advancement in supporting individuals with disabilities in the municipality.
Additionally, the Multifunctional Center in Kamza offers a variety of services, including educational activities for children, family counseling and support, therapy for individuals with disabilities, and specialized services like speech and language therapy.
These services aim to foster a safe and inclusive environment for those in greatest need, providing the care and support they require.
The European Union funding is administered by UNICEF and World Vision, in partnership with the “Together” Foundation, the municipality of Kamza, and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. (September 19)
