Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – After the Czech Republic identified China as the culprit behind a harmful cyber attack on the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union has shown support country.
In recent years, EU member states have increasingly faced cyber attacks from China, and the EU has urged Beijing to take further action to prevent them.
According to reports, the cyberattack on the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs was a prolonged and sophisticated espionage campaign that began in 2022. It targeted an unclassified communication network within the ministry, allowing hackers to read thousands of unclassified emails exchanged between Czech embassies and EU institutions.
How has the EU responded to Czechia’s accusations?
“Th EU and its Member nations, in partnership with international allies, express solidarity with Czechia in response to the malicious cyber campaign aimed at its Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” expressed European foreign top diplomat Kaja Kallas in blank”>a comment.
She stated that the European Union condemned these attacks, which she argued were against internationally established norms for how states should function in cyberspace.
“We urge all nations, China included, to avoid such actions behaviour,”
Kallas stated.
“Countries should not allow their environment to be manipulated for harmful cyber actions.”
She said the European Union was prepared to take additional steps, if necessary, to prevent, discourage, or address negative conduct in cyberspace.

Just what the EU needed, another ‘solidarity’ moment while China plays hide and seek with their cyber shenanigans. 🤦♂️ Honestly, I’m surprised they didn’t send a strongly-worded email instead of actually doing something! 😏

Just another day in the EU, where we rally together like a bunch of over-caffeinated diplomats to condemn cyberattacks while secretly wondering if we could’ve just changed the Wi-Fi password instead. 🤷♂️💻

Oh, how charming! The EU finally decides to show some backbone after a cyber slap from China—might as well hand out medals for the courage to “express solidarity” over a cup of lukewarm coffee. ☕️💻

Nice to see the EU backing Czechia while they’re still finding their own emails from 2022; I suppose cyber espionage is just another Tuesday in Brussels. 🤷♂️

Czechia got a warm EU hug after the cyber slap from China – because nothing says “we care” quite like a sternly worded letter, eh? 😏🤷♂️

Seems like the EU finally remembered they have a spine after all—who knew solidarity could be such a refreshing beverage? 🍺 Maybe next time, they’ll consider sending a fruit basket instead of just words, eh?

Looks like the EU is playing digital whack-a-mole again! 🙄 Just what we needed—more diplomatic tea-sipping while the cyber hoodlums run riot. 🍵💻

Seems like the EU is finally taking a break from discussing wine and cheese to deal with some actual cyber drama. Who knew hacking could cause such a stir? 🍷💻

Oh, fantastic! Just what we needed—another EU pep talk while our cyber gates are wide open. Maybe next time, we can get a “no hacking” sign printed in Mandarin? 😂

Blimey, who would’ve thought a cyberattack could make the EU finally show some backbone? 🇨🇿💪 Maybe next they’ll support us in finding a decent cup o’ coffee! ☕️

Oh, how charming! The EU takes a stand against cyber bullies while we all sip our espresso, hoping they remember to make the next meeting about actual solutions and not just more fancy words. 🥴💻
