Brussels – A spokesperson for the Commission stated that sexually explicit videos currently under investigation by the French justice system “are illegal, disgusting and have no place in Europe,” referring to the deepfake images of minors that circulated on the X network.
The spokesperson emphasized that “X is fully aware that we are rigorously enforcing the Digital Services Act and we urge all companies to adhere to it,” noting that the EU imposed its first fine on X for breaching this regulation, the Digital Services Act (DSA), in December.
On January 5, 2026, Grok, the AI assistant of the X network, admitted to “flaws” that permitted users to access sexually explicit imagery involving minors or women, leading to global protests and an expansion of the judicial investigation in France.
