EU Offers Financial Assistance to SMEs in North Macedonia

Skopje – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has finalized a deal with ProCredit Bank for a guarantee of up to 25 million euros, aimed at covering 50 percent of the risk associated with new loans intended to finance small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in North Macedonia, amounting to a total of 50 million euros.

This guarantee is backed by technical assistance from the European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus, enabling the EBRD and the EU to aid ProCredit in enhancing its resilience and expanding its lending capacity.

The financing is targeted at sectors that face challenges in accessing funds, with a particular focus on businesses led by women and young entrepreneurs, rural SMEs, and initiatives that promote inclusive economic development.

As per EBRD’s representative for North Macedonia, Fatih Turkmenoglu, this collaboration, supported by the European Union, signifies a significant advancement in improving financial access for underrepresented businesses in the nation.

– By mitigating the risk and introducing innovative financial solutions along with approved technical support, we empower small and medium-sized enterprises to confidently invest in their growth and resilience. This exemplifies inclusive and sustainable financing by the EBRD, which is dedicated to the progress of the entire Western Balkans, Turkmenoglu stated.

The EBRD stands as the primary institutional investor in North Macedonia, having invested over 3 billion euros to promote sustainable development, infrastructure, private sector growth, and the country’s regional integration. (30 December 2025)

Oh, fantastic! Just what North Macedonia needed – another €25 million to sprinkle around like confetti at a wedding. Can’t wait to see how this “inclusion” really helps those poor SMEs, because who wouldn’t want a bit more bureaucracy in their lives? 😂💸

Oh, look at that, the EU is playing fairy godmother again with a sprinkle of cash for SMEs in North Macedonia. Next, they’ll be handing out free pastries to go with it—who knew financial assistance came with a side of croissants? 🥐💸

Oh, fantastic! The EU is throwing around 25 million euros like confetti at a wedding to help SMEs in North Macedonia. Because nothing says “we care” quite like a half-hearted financial band-aid for businesses that probably just need a decent cup of coffee and a good chat, right? 😏💸

Oh, lovely! Just what North Macedonia needed, another EU handout to make it feel like a grown-up again. Perhaps next they’ll throw in a complimentary coffee to go with that 25 million! ☕💸

  12. Sure, because nothing says “small business empowerment” like a 25 million euro safety net for loans in a place where half the entrepreneurs are just trying to keep their coffee shops afloat. Cheers to more bureaucracy! 🍵💸
