EU defense chief proposes creation of European military force to succeed US troops

“We are considering a rapid reaction force of 100,000 or 80,000 troops, intended to replace American forces,” he stated, should they scale down their presence in Europe. “That’s why I’m emphasizing the term rapid reaction force, to avoid the misconception of a European army.”

He acknowledged that such a force would face challenges, as it would be governed by member countries, complicating rapid and unified action. He did not specify whether this European force would be part of NATO, but emphasized Europe’s continued reliance on the alliance.

To address leadership challenges, Kubilius proposed establishing a European Security Council, comprising five or six major EU countries, possibly including the U.K., along with smaller EU countries on a rotating basis, plus the Council and the European Commission.

He suggested that such a body “may be the answer” to the leadership issue.

Oh, brilliant move! Because nothing screams “rapid reaction” like a committee of five countries debating over tea and biscuits before deciding which way to march. 😂

  2. Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “rapid response” like a committee of five or six nations trying to agree on what to have for lunch. 🍽️ Good luck with that! 😏

Oh, brilliant! Because if there’s one thing we need, it’s a committee to decide when and how to react – just what every conflict needs, more bureaucracy! 😂

Oh brilliant, a European military force to replace the Americans – just what we need! Can’t wait for the ‘rapid’ response time to become a catchy slogan like “better late than never”! 🇪🇺💪

Oh sure, because nothing says “rapid reaction” quite like a committee of five or six countries wrangling over coffee and biscuits before deciding on a plan. 🇪🇺☕

  6. Oh brilliant, nothing screams efficiency like a ‘rapid reaction force’ governed by a committee of EU bureaucrats; I can already see the minutes of the meetings taking longer than the actual response time! 😂

So, we’re gonna swap the good ol’ US troops for a bunch of European soldiers who might take a tea break before responding? Sounds like a plan, mate! 😂🇪🇺

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “rapid reaction” like a committee of five countries trying to agree on coffee breaks before they can even deploy a troop. 😂💼 Who knew military strategy involved so much bureaucracy?

A European military force? Brilliant! Just what we need—more cooks in the kitchen arguing over the recipe while the main course is on fire. 🍽️💥

Oh brilliant! Just what we need – a European military force that’s as quick as a snail on holiday. 😂 Who knew “rapid reaction” meant taking a coffee break first?

Creating a rapid reaction force of 100,000 troops sounds a bit ambitious, doesn’t it? I mean, when you can’t even agree on a common recipe for spaghetti, how are we meant to coordinate a military response? 😂🇪🇺

  12. Oh sure, because nothing says “swift action” like a committee meeting with five different countries trying to agree on who brings the biscuits. 🍪💼

Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams “we’ve got it all under control” like a bunch of EU countries trying to agree on a pizza topping, let alone a military strategy. 🍕💼

Brilliant! Just what we need – a European military force that can react as quickly as a snail on holiday. Maybe they should just hire a few taxi drivers; at least they know how to navigate traffic! 🚖💨

Oh, brilliant! A European rapid reaction force—because nothing screams “quick response” like a committee meeting and a round of coffee first. ☕💼

  16. Oh great, a “rapid reaction force” – because nothing says efficiency like a committee of 27 arguing over who brings the biscuits. 😂💼

Creating a European military force? Brilliant idea! Because nothing says “quick response” like a committee meeting in three different languages first. 😂
