Mandelson, who served as EU trade commissioner from 2004 to 2008 and held a prominent position in the U.K.’s Labour Party, was recently removed by Prime Minister Keir Starmer from a senior Foreign Office role due to allegations linked to Epstein. Despite a failed security vetting, Mandelson had been appointed as U.K. ambassador to the United States at the beginning of Starmer’s tenure, as reported last week. Mandelson has admitted his mistake in maintaining ties with Epstein and offered an “unequivocal” apology to Epstein’s victims.
