Sarajevo – On Wednesday, the United States and the European Union expressed their disapproval of the Bosnian Serbs’ plans to obstruct the operations of Bosnia’s central institutions. This comes in light of the trial of their political leader, Milorad Dodik, who is being judged for defying the authority of the International High Representative tasked with ensuring adherence to the peace agreement.
During a session held from Tuesday night to Wednesday, the Parliament of the Republika Srpska (RS) passed several “conclusions,” which included a directive for RS representatives in central institutions to refrain from participating in decisions concerning the country’s integration with the European Union. They justified this move by labeling the trial against Dodik a “political trial.”
In a joint statement, the embassies of the United States, the EU, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom condemned the RS Parliament’s conclusions, describing them as a significant threat to the constitutional order of the country. (December 25, 2024)
