Emmanuel Macron confirme son intention de reporter le prochain sommet climatique de l’UE

Emmanuel Macron estime que la discussion ne doit pas être précipitée.

“C’est formidable si on l’a pour Belém, mais ce n’est pas l’attente pour la COP à venir. Ce sont les objectifs pour 2035. Ce n’est pas avoir des objectifs européens en 2040. Donc, ne nous imposons pas trop de contraintes.”

“Arrêtons de nous compliquer la tâche. Ce n’est pas un objectif pour Belém. Si on l’a pour Belém, super. Sinon, prenons plus de temps pour bien le faire.”

Le président a également affirmé que l’objectif pour 2040 devait être compatible avec la compétitivité et a souligné que les énergies renouvelables et nucléaires devaient être équitablement considérées dans les futurs plans climatiques de l’UE. Il a fait valoir que les pays ont besoin de plus de flexibilité pour atteindre cet objectif et de davantage d’investissements.

Si ces demandes sont intégrées au paquet législatif de la Commission, il pourrait soutenir l’objectif, a-t-il suggéré.

De nombreux gouvernements ont émis de longues listes de demandes pour accepter l’objectif de 2040, et la Commission devrait déjà offrir une grande flexibilité aux pays pour atteindre cet objectif, afin de construire un consensus.
