Brussels – Elon Musk’s endorsement of a far-right party in Germany has sparked heated exchanges between the billionaire and Thierry Breton, the former European Digital Commissioner.
Musk’s statement on X, “Only the AfD can save Germany,” has ignited strong reactions across Europe.
“With only weeks to go before the upcoming elections in Germany, Elon Musk – the most influential figure on X and a potential member of a future U.S. administration – openly endorses the far-right AfD party. Isn’t this the epitome of foreign interference?” Breton posted on X.
“We must eliminate double standards and enforce the #DSA in Europe,” he added, referencing the Digital Services Act, which aims to enhance the enforcement of European laws on digital platforms.
Musk responded on Sunday, “Dude, American ‘foreign interference’ is the only reason you don’t speak German or Russian today,” referencing the U.S. landing in France during World War II. (December 22, 2024)
