Cairo (Eurotoday) – Egypt has condemned remarks by Israeli officials proposing the establishment of a Palestinian state on Saudi territory, calling them “irresponsible.”
Egypt’s foreign ministry stated that the remarks constituted a “direct infringement of Saudi sovereignty” and emphasized that Saudi security is a “red line for Egypt.”
The statement further described the proposal as “reprehensible aggression and an infringement of diplomatic norms.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently suggested that Palestinians could establish their state in Saudi Arabia rather than in their historical homeland. Speaking to Israeli Channel 14, he rejected the possibility of a Palestinian state within Palestine, citing it as a “security threat” to Israel. Netanyahu stated,
“The Saudis can create a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia; they have a lot of land over there.”
His remarks underscored his firm opposition to Palestinian sovereignty over their own territory.
What role does the Trump plan play in this debate?
Previously, former U.S. President Donald Trump had proposed that the U.S. take control of Gaza from Israel and develop it into a “Riviera of the Middle East,” while relocating Palestinians to other countries, including Egypt and Jordan.
This plan has faced strong opposition from Palestinians, who have vowed to remain in their homeland. Regional governments, including Saudi Arabia, have reaffirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state remains a prerequisite for normalizing relations with Israel.
