According to police, at least six separate reports were received on Saturday evening describing fireworks being set off recklessly, resulting in the temporary closure of parts of Hills Avenue due to safety concerns. The force said that “approximately 100 teenagers” had gathered, blocking traffic and igniting fireworks dangerously close to vehicles and homes.
Police Response
Around a dozen police officers were dispatched to the scene to disperse the crowd and restore order. When officers arrived, many of the teenagers scattered and left the area, avoiding confrontation with law enforcement. Authorities confirmed that the dispersal order covered several key streets in Cambridge that had experienced recurring anti-social gatherings in recent weeks.
