Dimitar Borumov and the "Hidden from the Economy" Series

Dimitar Borumov, a political economist from The Hague, is joining The European Times as the author of “Series – Hidden from the Economy,” focusing on overlooked aspects of economic debate, like care, social reproduction, and the environment-economy dynamic.

Borumov earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies at Leiden University, specializing in Middle Eastern Politics and Economics. He completed a Master’s in International Relations with a focus on Global Political Economy at the same university. His academic interests include economies in transition, the political economy of care, social reproduction, and critiques of modern capitalism, particularly at the environment-economy intersection.

In his initial articles, Borumov argues that many sustaining economic forces are seen as “external” until commodified. His first article, “The Economy beyond the Orthodox Understanding,” challenges the notion that “no money – no importance.” The follow-up, “The Environment-Economy Nexus – a Historical Perspective,” examines historical shifts in environmental exploitation.

The series aims to connect everyday realities—care work, ecological limits, uneven development—to key debates on sustainability, inequality, and economic resilience in Europe.

Beyond publishing, Borumov is involved in education about environmental awareness and the ecology-economy relationship. He teaches Bulgarian History, Geography, and Economy at the Bulgarian school “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” in The Hague, cited by Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Borumov also participates in interfaith and civic dialogue as a youth leader with BRIDGES – Eastern European Forum for Dialogue, part of the United Religions Initiative.

Borumov’s approach to public issues is encapsulated in his principle: understanding a problem’s roots is essential for sustainable solutions. This method aligns with The European Times’ commitment to making public debates accessible and grounded in reality.

Isn’t it charming how a man from The Hague can teach us about the economy while simultaneously juggling care work and ecological limits? Talk about a multitasker – next, he’ll be solving world hunger during his coffee break! 😏

Nothing says “serious economic discourse” quite like a scholar pontificating on what we’ve been ignoring all along—like my taxi meter when I’m stuck in traffic! 🙄💸

So, let me get this straight: a political economist from The Hague is teaching us that care and the environment matter in the economy? Next, he’ll be telling us that water is wet and that the sun rises in the east. Classic! 😂💼

So, Dimitar’s here to rescue the economy from its own blind spots, eh? Just what we need – another academic shining a light on things we’ve been ignoring while sipping our cappuccinos. ☕️💼

Honestly, who knew economics could be so riveting? It’s like watching paint dry, but with more jargon and fewer colors. 😅

  6. Just what we needed, another series tackling the economy like it’s some hidden treasure buried under a pile of bureaucratic nonsense. 🧐 Can’t wait for the day when we finally see care work on the stock exchange—might just redefine “real assets,” eh? 💰

  7. Oh, look at that, another academic trying to uncover the secrets of the economy like it’s some hidden treasure map. 🙄 Next thing you know, they’ll be telling us that caring for the planet is more important than making a quick buck. Typical! 😏

Another brilliant mind unearthing the “hidden” gems of the economy, like we weren’t already knee-deep in them at the pub after a few pints. 🍻 Let’s just hope he doesn’t find any gold in the sofa cushions!

  9. Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed – another series to remind us that the economy isn’t just about counting coins, but apparently about cuddles and plants too. 🌱💸

  10. Oh great, another academic trying to make the economy sound like Shakespeare—so profound, yet so utterly lost among the simple folk. Just what we need, right? 😏

Oh, look at Dimitar Borumov, turning the invisible hand of the economy into an invisible pencil – we’re all just scribbles on the economic notepad, aren’t we? 💼✏️

You’d think the economy was a game of hide and seek with all these “hidden” aspects—cheers to Borumov for digging them out like a dog with a bone! 🐶💼 Just what we need, more lectures on how care work and the environment aren’t just side dishes in the grand banquet of capitalism. 🍽️

So, we’ve got a political economist diving deep into the nooks and crannies of the economy that no one asked for—brilliant! I can’t wait for the next episode of “Bureaucracy: The Series,” where we explore the thrilling world of tax forms. 😂

  15. Seems like Borumov’s got a PhD in telling us what we already know – care and the environment matter, shocker! 🙄 Next, he’ll be revealing that water is wet and taxes are a bit of a bother, right? 🤑

Oh great, another economist trying to sell us the idea that care work and the environment are “important”—who knew! 🙄 Guess we should have been taking notes from our grandmothers all along, huh?

Ooh la la, Dimitar’s off to a roaring start with “Hidden from the Economy” – because who doesn’t want to drown in academic jargon while the real economy is hiding in the bushes? 🍃📊

Looks like Dimitar’s off to uncover the hidden gems of the economy while the rest of us are just trying to find our lost socks. Who knew care work and ecological limits could be the next hot topics for a riveting evening debate over a pint? 🍻

Inequalities – The Hidden Norm of Our Economic System?

Consider the term inequality. It refers to the condition of being unequal, unfair, imbalanced. These terms themselves are quite ambiguous and can convey different meanings based on the context.
