Croatia among the best in drawing recovery funds

ZAGREB – Croatia is among the fastest EU members in fulfilling key stages and target values and received payments from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, said Ivana Maletić, a member of the European Court of Auditors, in a conversation with the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, on Wednesday.

Maletić reported to the Speaker of the Parliament on the Annual Report of the European Court of Auditors for 2023, with a special focus on thematic reports on the Recovery and Resilience Fund and the industrial policy of the European Union.

“According to the Court’s report on the absorption of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, Croatia is among the fastest EU members in fulfilling key stages and target values and received payments from the Fund,” the Parliament conveys Maletić’s words in a statement.

Furthermore, the Croatian member of the European Court of Auditors highlighted, “for the first time since 2017, the Republic of Croatia was not in the sample of countries for checking error rates in cohesion policy, because the system in previous years was rated as quality and without quantified errors.”

Jandroković expressed satisfaction with the positive indicators of the report for Croatia regarding the use of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, as well as that in the past six years Croatia has effectively fulfilled its obligations related to cohesion policy.

The Annual Report of the European Court of Auditors for 2023 will, together with selected thematic reports, be more detailed presented at today’s joint thematic session of the parliamentary committees for finance and the state budget, European affairs, regional development and EU funds, economy, and agriculture.
