Air Liquide, the French industrial gas company, views the European Union’s “clean industry” strategy as a significant opportunity for the continent.
In a statement made on Friday in anticipation of the strategy’s presentation scheduled for Wednesday in Brussels, Air Liquide’s CEO, François Jackow, emphasized that this initiative could facilitate Europe’s efforts to modernize and decarbonize its industrial framework.
Jackow expressed optimism about potential new directions, simplifications, and increased support for a carbon-neutral industrial sector. He highlighted the importance of the European Commission’s “pact for a clean industry,” which aims to combat the region’s industrial decline while stimulating growth, noting that it is “extremely important for our clients.”
Air Liquide operates in 60 countries and provides industrial gases to a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, petrochemicals, electronics, and food processing. The company is currently involved in seven projects across Europe focused on producing low-carbon hydrogen using electrolyzers, which are either under construction or already operational.
