Brussels’ ‘Flow’ Wins Oscar for Best Animated Film

Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Latvian-Belgian animated film ‘Flow’ received the Oscar for Best Animated Film during the recent awards ceremony, with Take Five as one of its production agencies from Brussels.

The Latvian-Belgian animated film Flow won the Best Animated Film Oscar during the 97th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The film had previously won a Golden Globe before its Oscar victory. It tells the story of a feline survivor who must coexist with other animals on a small boat after Earth becomes completely flooded.

Flow stands out due to its unique narrative approach, as the film unfolds entirely without dialogue. Based in Brussels, Take Five handled all audio post-production work for the film. Meanwhile, the Best Short Animation Film category eluded Beautiful Men by Flemish director Nicolas Keppens, despite its Belgian entry.

The Best Short Animated Film award went to Shadow of the Cypress, directed by Shirin Sohani and Hossein Molayemi. Co-producer Gregory Zalcman emphasized the film’s originality, stating:

**“The unique and innovative thing about the film is that the story is told without dialogue.”**

What is the background of this achievement?

Flow marks a significant milestone for the Latvian and Belgian film industries, securing a place in the 97th annual Oscars. Following its Golden Globe win for Best Animated Film, Flow gained recognition as a major international animation production. The partnership between Latvian creators and Brussels-based Take Five Productions highlights the increasing collaboration among European studios in producing international co-productions.

Take Five, a post-production facility operating in Brussels, has become a key center of expertise. It played a crucial role in enhancing Flow’s production quality by delivering essential sound elements. This Oscar win further solidifies the global reputation of European animation and showcases the value of innovative storytelling techniques, including dialogue-free narratives.

The Church’s Influence in Today’s Society

By Father Alexander Men
When considering the Church’s role in today’s world, particularly in the Soviet Union where Orthodoxy is prevalent, we encounter a complex and unfortunate picture. This is due to a growing need for spiritual values and an understanding of faith among the people. Atheism isn’t widespread; instead, deep religious ignorance or paganism exists, yet the aspir

Iran – United States: The Truce Is Not Peace, It Is a Strategic Pause – Op-ed by Isaac Hammouch

The perception of Iran as an immediate threat is misguided. Although it may never have posed such a danger in the traditional sense, this misconception has led to flawed strategic discussions in the West. A focus on short-term threats overlooks Iran’s real power, which is built on long-term, multidimensional strategies. Rather than seeking immediate attacks, Iran gradually increases its leverage
