Brussels Allocates Over 1.06 Billion Euros from the Recovery and Resilience Plan to Portugal

BRUSSELS – Today, the European Commission allocated 1.06 billion euros in grants to Portugal, marking the seventh payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (RRM) and the national program.
As per the statement from the European executive, this payment addresses 27 targets and milestones across various sectors including health, housing, forest fire management, renewable energy, and enhancements to the business environment.
The funds will facilitate initiatives such as acquiring medical equipment, renovating hydroelectric plants in Madeira, and establishing publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations.
Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), backed by a total financing package of 21.9 billion euros (comprising 16.3 billion euros in grants and 5.6 billion euros in loans), has now achieved a disbursement rate of 62%. (26/11/25)
