Bredene (Eurotoday) – De Lijn is renewing tram tracks in Bredene until April 2025, offering night buses from 9 PM on weekdays to aid passenger travel.
Since March 2024, De Lijn has been busy fixing the tram tracks in Bredene. Most of this work has taken place during the day. To make things easier for passengers, De Lijn has started doing some maintenance work at night. This means they have to turn off the electricity, and the trams cannot run during that time. To help travellers, De Lijn has set up replacement buses.
What are the new bus services by De Lijn between Ostend and Knokke-Heist?
These buses run between Ostend and Knokke-Heist starting at 9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This change helps passengers continue their journeys without too much trouble. During the day, the tram services are still running as usual. On Fridays and weekends, the trams go back to their regular routes. They provide normal service, even during the Crocus holiday.
“Work is mainly being done at night to limit the impact on passengers as much as possible,” says De Lijn.
De Lijn has made changes to the bus network in Bredene since July 2023. They replaced the old bus lines 4 and 9 with two new city lines. City line 2 goes from Oostende station to Vuurtorenwijk and Groenendijk. City line 4 connects Ostende station with Bredene. The buses now run every 15 minutes, making travel easier. Evening bus services have also been extended. They run until about 11 p.m. every day, and on Fridays and Saturdays, they run until around 2 a.m.
Tram stops between Ostend and De Haan have been cancelled because of track renewal work. Replacement buses will stop at certain points along the route. De Lijn has posted all the important information at the affected stops and shared details on itsblank”> website and route planner.
It has been said that this way, passengers will be informed about the changes and can plan their trips well. The track renewal work will continue until April 2025. De Lijn is working to minimise passenger inconvenience while improving the tram network for the future.

Oh, brilliant! Nothing like a bit of nocturnal bus hopping in Bredene to spice up the nightlife – who needs clubs when you can catch a ride on a bus at 9 PM, right? 🚍✨ Just what we all wanted for our evenings out, a lovely detour to admire the local potholes. 🍻
