
Brussels (Eurotoday): A Bpost truck caught fire at the sorting center in Neder-Over-Heembeek, Brussels, around 8:15 AM today. Firefighters quickly stopped the fire and no one was injured. The fire was caused by a technical problem, and since the truck was empty, no packages were lost. Bpost assured that deliveries will continue as usual.
This morning on 29 December at about 8:15, a Bpost truck caught fire at the sorting center in Neder-Over-Heembeek, Brussels. Emergency services responded quickly, with firefighters from the Brussels Fire Department and the Flemish Brabant West Fire Department arriving on the scene. They were able to stop the fire before it spread to nearby buildings or other vehicles. Their fast response helped prevent a much bigger disaster.
What caused the Bpost truck fire in Brussels and were any packages lost?
No one was injured in the fire, but the truck was completely destroyed. Investigators from the Brussels Capital-Ixelles police said the fire was caused by a technical problem in the vehicle. Although the flames caused a lot of damage to the truck, there were no other injuries or damage to nearby property. The sorting center was able to continue its operations without major delays.
Brussels residents who were worried about delays in mail and package delivery for them Bpost spokesman Mathieu Goedefroy confirmed that the truck was empty when it caught fire, so “no packages or letters were lost.” The quick response from emergency services, customers can expect their deliveries to continue without any interruptions.
