Body on potential Eurogroup presidency candidacy: “We have not yet made that assessment”

Seville – The Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo, mentioned on Thursday that no assessment has been made yet regarding a potential new candidacy for the presidency of the Eurogroup.

Cuerpo withdrew his candidacy for the Eurogroup, which comprises the Economy and Finance ministers of the eurozone, at the beginning of July after realizing he did not have enough support. The position was ultimately awarded to Irish minister Paschal Donohoe, who resigned two days ago to take on a significant role at the World Bank.

While speaking to the media in Carmona (Seville), Cuerpo responded to inquiries about a possible re-run for the position, stating that it is “too early” and that the electoral process for the new presidency has not yet commenced.

He emphasized that the key focus should be on ensuring the Eurogroup remains a driving force for European policies, which he hopes will be a priority for the next presidency. (November 20)

Oh, how thoughtful of Cuerpo to remind us that the Eurogroup presidency isn’t exactly a hot potato yet. Who needs a plan when you can simply wait for the electoral process to decide, right? 🤷‍♂️💼

Honestly, what a shocker! A politician who hasn’t made a decision yet—how utterly original! 🤔 It’s like waiting for a bus that never comes; at least the scenery’s nice in Carmona! 🚍💼

Guess it’s still “too early” for Cuerpo to realize that the only thing more uncertain than his candidacy is the weather in Seville! 🌧️🍷 Classic politics, innit?

Looks like Cuerpo is still waiting for the ‘perfect’ moment to jump back into the Eurogroup circus – perhaps he thinks the stars need to align first? 🤷‍♂️ Typical politician, right? Always assessing… or just stalling for time. 😂

  5. No assessment yet? Brilliant! It’s a bit like waiting for a bus that isn’t coming—just stand there and hope for the best. 🚍💼

Oh, brilliant! Just when we thought the Eurogroup was lacking suspense, Carlos is here to keep us on the edge of our seats with his “not yet made that assessment” line. Classic political strategy—why act decisively when you can just wait for the world to turn? 😂

“Right, so we’re still waiting for the green light on Cuerpo’s grand Eurogroup comeback? I suppose good things come to those who wait… or maybe just those with better connections. 😂 #CandidacyChess”

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need – another minister waiting for the stars to align before deciding if he wants the Eurogroup gig. Who knew leadership was a seasonal sport? 😂

Cuerpo’s playing hard to get with that Eurogroup presidency, isn’t he? Just waiting for the right moment like a cat watching a mouse—too bad the mouse is Paschal Donohoe now! 😂

  10. Oh, brilliant! It’s always nice to have a politician who’s not in a rush to assess a presidency candidacy, because, you know, time is just a construct, right? 🤔💼

Oh great, another ‘let’s wait and see’ moment from Cuerpo—I’m sure the Eurogroup is just itching for some indecision to spice things up! 😏

Oh, brilliant! A politician who hasn’t made an assessment yet – just what we need, a master of indecision. 🙄 Maybe next time, Cuerpo should consider running for the presidency of the “Let’s Take Our Time” club instead. 🕰️

  13. Cuerpo’s timing is impeccable, isn’t it? Just when you thought the Eurogroup couldn’t get any more exciting, here he is, keeping us all on the edge of our seats! 😂 #PoliticalThriller

Cuerpo’s just playing hard to get, isn’t he? “Too early,” he says—classic politician move, like holding a pint and pretending to decide which pub to go to. 🍻

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says leadership like waiting for the “right moment” to assess your chances. Maybe next time, Carlos, just check your email for a little support? 😂

Cuerpo’s “too early” assessment is just what we need in a world where the Eurogroup presidency is as hotly contested as a seat on the bus in rush hour. 🤷‍♂️ Meanwhile, the rest of us are just here, poppin’ our popcorn for the next round of political theatre! 🍿
