Blaze Destroys Roma Family’s Home in Sint-Niklaas, Leaving Residents Displaced

Sint-Niklaas (Eurotoday): A fire on Driegaaienstraat damaged a Roma family’s home, destroying their bedroom and making the upper floor unsafe. The fire department acted quickly, and an investigation is ongoing.

On 22 November Friday night, a blank” rel=”noopener”>fire broke out in the home of a Roma family on Driegaaienstraat. The fire department responded quickly and managed to bring the fire under control; it caused significant damage. The family’s bedroom was destroyed, leaving nothing salvageable, and the rest of the upper floor suffered severe smoke and damage, making it unsafe for living.

What caused the fire in a Roma family’s home on Driegaaienstraat, Sint-Niklaas?

After the fire, an expert was assigned to investigate its cause. Their report will clarify how the fire started and help prevent similar incidents in the future. Because of the damage, officials declared the house unsafe, forcing the family to find a new place to live.

During the firefighting efforts, Driegaaienstraat was closed to traffic for safety reasons. This helped emergency workers do their job without any interruptions. The street remained closed until the fire was completely under control and it was safe to reopen. The incident affected not just the family involved but also caused some disruption in the neighborhood for a short time.

Talk about a hot mess! Just when you thought Sint-Niklaas needed some excitement, a Roma family’s home goes up in flames—if only they could’ve just ordered a takeaway instead. 🔥🥴
