Sarajevo (Fena) – The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has made significant progress in its European integration efforts by approving a proposal for the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), which is essential for judicial oversight. This legislation is part of the reform commitments that Bosnia and Herzegovina must meet on its journey toward EU membership.
BiH Justice Minister Davor Bunoza stated that the proposed law enhances judicial transparency, establishes a system for career advancement, and clarifies the roles and responsibilities of HJPC members. The new legislation limits the terms of Council members, prevents consecutive reappointments, and guarantees an impartial assessment of judges through a dedicated commission rather than relying on individual decisions made by court presidents.
It is important to note that this law did not gain the support of the representatives from the Serbian community within the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (4.3.)
