Belgium Investigates After 15 Drones Reported Over Military Base

On Thursday evening, an incident at Munich Airport led to air traffic control suspending operations, resulting in the cancellation of 17 flights and affecting almost 3,000 passengers.

“Munich Airport, in cooperation with the airlines, immediately took care of passenger care in the terminals. Camp beds were set up, blankets, drinks and snacks were handed out,” Munich Airport stated on Friday.

Airport officials reported that 15 incoming flights were redirected to Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Vienna, and Frankfurt.

Recently, airports in Denmark and Norway have also paused operations due to drones spotted in their airspace, prompting discussions among European leaders about the feasibility of a “drone wall” on the eastern flank to guard against Russian aggression.

In a severe incident, nearly two dozen Russian attack drones entered Poland, triggering a multimillion-euro emergency response from allied weapons systems.

Ferdinand Knapp contributed to this report.
