Anti-drone Barrier: "Urgent Action Required" and Insights from Ukraine (European Commissioner to AFP)

Brussels – “We need to act swiftly” in anti-drone defense, stated the European Commissioner for Defense in an interview with AFP on Friday.

Andrius Kubilius emphasized the importance of learning from the lessons of Ukraine and collaborating to establish an “anti-drone wall” alongside Ukraine.

His remarks followed a video conference with around ten EU defense ministers, who agreed on the initiative after a series of Russian air incursions.

Ukraine, which has successfully developed low-cost capabilities to detect and neutralize swarms of Russian drones, expressed its eagerness to join the project.

“Ukraine rapidly created an acoustic sensor system early in the conflict,” Kubilius informed AFP.

“I believe we can achieve this quickly as well,” he noted, underscoring his desire for Kiev to be “a true partner” in this endeavor. (September 26, 2025)

Just what we needed, another “urgent” call for action; it’s not like we’ve been sitting on our hands while the drones are having a field day, right? 🤨 If only they could build an anti-droning wall around all the endless meetings instead! 🥴

Looks like we’re building an anti-drone wall now, eh? Next step: a ‘No Fly Zone’ sign made of gold, because why not? 😂✈️

Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed, another “urgent” initiative to build a wall—this time against drones. Maybe next they’ll ask us to put up a moat too! 😂🛡️
