Andy Burnham on Question Time: 5 Key Points from the UK Leadership Hopeful’s TV Appearance

“We might need to revisit that,” Burnham replied. “Considering the significant issues related to knife crime, it’s worth examining, though it requires a thorough discussion,” he added.

Burnham dismissed allegations of unequal policing in Greater Manchester, commending Chief Constable Stephen Watson. He emphasized Watson’s commitment to “never take the knee.” Not influenced by such movements here.

5. Kenyon’s past social media posts remain problematic

Other debate participants criticized Kenyon—a plumber who ran for Reform UK in the 2024 general election—regarding his controversial online remarks about women, the Ukraine conflict, and social policies.

Reform UK has defended Kenyon, emphasizing that the comments were made prior to his political career.

On Thursday, Kenyon claimed his statements were “completely taken out of context,” asserting: “I was raised by women. I have nothing but respect for women.”

However, Green candidate Sarah Wakefield mentioned speaking to presenter Carol Vorderman on Thursday morning after reports surfaced that Kenyon made a sexualized remark about the broadcaster in 2021.

By Fr. Alexander Men
When discussing the authority left by the Lord to the Church, we must dismiss any notion of it resembling earthly authority. Forget that church authorities in the Middle Ages and other times sometimes resembled state power. This authority is fundamentally different and cannot be compared.
