Amnesty Report Alleges Israel Committing Genocide in Gaza

Amnesty International has reported that it presented its findings on alleged human rights violations to Israeli authorities but had yet to receive a “substantive response” by the time of its publication.

The report accuses nations supplying weapons to Israel, including the United States and Germany, of neglecting their duty to prevent genocide. According to Gaza’s health ministry, during the first year of the conflict in Gaza, Israeli actions have resulted in the deaths of over 42,000 Palestinians, including more than 13,300 children, with an additional 97,000 injured. Amnesty International suggested that the actual figures may be even higher.

“Month after month, Israel has treated Palestinians in Gaza as a subhuman group unworthy of human rights and dignity, demonstrating its intent to physically destroy them,” stated Agnès Callamard, Amnesty International’s secretary-general.

In October, a United Nations Independent Commission presented a report to the U.N. General Assembly regarding human rights abuses in Israel and the Palestinian territories. The report accused Israeli security forces of deliberately inflicting harm on health workers, including killings, arrests, detentions, torture, and mistreatment, claiming these actions constitute war crimes and the crime against humanity of extermination.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity connected to Gaza. Additionally, the ICC issued a warrant for Hamas Commander Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, whom Israel announced it had killed in July.
