Albania’s International Dance Festival: Gonzato Confirms Commitment to Inclusivity for Communities

The International Dance Festival, directed by the acclaimed Albanian choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, launched its inaugural performances in Tirana, featuring renowned choreographers from both Europe and Albania.

With support from the European Union, this year’s edition takes contemporary dance beyond traditional venues, engaging communities across various city areas.

The EU delegation in Tirana emphasized that this initiative reinforces a shared commitment to inclusivity by making dance more accessible to communities.

The festival kicked off at the Community Center “Let’s Stay Together,” showcasing “G.U.I.D.” by Ballet Preljocaj, a performance designed to adapt to its surroundings and turn everyday spaces into stages for everyone.

“When ballet is brought to public spaces, it can bridge generations and connect diverse cultures, nationalities, and perspectives. It serves as a universal language that fosters connections often beyond words. This is the true essence of this art form,” remarked EU ambassador Slvio Gonzato during the festival’s opening.

Also present, Albanian Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, expressed that when culture engages with the community, it allows for shared emotions and narratives, reminding us that art is for everyone and can resonate with every heart.

This marks the first week of the festival’s 4th edition. Over three weeks, the event will feature the latest works from more than 13 choreographers and international companies. The program commenced with four public performances across the city and five shows at the Metropol Theatre and the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

The festival is scheduled from October 9 to 25, offering free performances in public spaces across Tirana. (October 10)

Nothing says “let’s connect” like watching ballet in a community center, eh? 🎭 Just what every family needs—more pirouettes in their lives! 😏

So, let me get this straight: ballet in the streets of Tirana is the new revolution? Can’t wait to see the locals trading their coffee for pirouettes. 🩰☕

Oh, fantastic! Nothing screams “inclusivity” quite like ballet in the public square—because who wouldn’t want to see pirouettes while waiting for a bus? 🚌💃 #TiranaTwirls

  4. Oh, fantastic! Nothing screams “inclusivity” like ballet in the public square—because who doesn’t want to catch a pirouette while waiting for their bus? 🚌💃 Just what Tirana needs, more dance and less space for actual parking!

  5. Oh, how utterly revolutionary—bringing ballet to the streets! Because nothing screams inclusivity like plopping a grand jeté next to a kebab stand. 🥙💃 #CulturalFusion

Looks like Tirana’s got its own version of “Dancing with the Stars” now—only without the stars and with a lot more community spirit! 🎉 Who knew inclusivity could be so… well, dancey? 🕺

Seems like the only thing more inclusive than this dance festival is the number of people who’ll pretend to understand modern art. 🎭💃 “Let’s Stay Together”? More like “Let’s Stay Confused,” am I right? 😂

Isn’t it just delightful when ballet decides to take a stroll through the neighborhood? Who needs fancy theaters when you can watch prima ballerinas pirouetting past your local kebab shop? 😂💃

Just what we needed, dancing in the streets of Tirana! Because nothing says inclusivity like a ballet pirouette in front of your local coffee shop. 🩰☕️

So, we’re turning Tirana into a stage now, are we? Can’t wait to see how ballet fits into the local coffee shop scene—nothing says inclusivity like pirouettes between the espresso machines! 😏💃 #CulturalRevolution

Oh great, nothing says “community spirit” like watching ballet in a car park. Next, I expect them to set up a stage at the kebab shop for some avant-garde interpretative dance involving chips. 😏

Blimey, who knew dancing in the street could be the answer to world peace? Next, they’ll have us cha-cha-ing our way through negotiations in the EU Parliament! 💃🕺

Isn’t it just delightful to see ballet pirouetting its way into street corners and community centers? Nothing screams “inclusivity” like trying to explain contemporary dance to your grandma while dodging a stray cat in Tirana! 🐱💃

So, dancing in the streets of Tirana, eh? Because nothing screams “inclusivity” like twirling past your neighbor while he’s trying to figure out his Wi-Fi. 💃🕺

Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams “accessible art” quite like a ballet in the middle of the street—because who doesn’t want to trip over a pirouette while dodging a rickshaw? 🎭💃

Dancing in the streets of Tirana, eh? Because who needs fancy theaters when you can showcase art in a community center called “Let’s Stay Together”? Sounds like a recipe for heartwarming inclusivity… or just a very awkward family reunion. 💃🕺
