Albania will host the next meeting of the European Political Community

Albania will host the next meeting of the European Political Community in the first six months of 2025.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama attended the last meeting of the European Political Community in Budapest, where he also took over the role of the next host.

Rama considered it a privilege that the next meeting of the European Political Community will be held in Tirana.

“I must tell you that until many years ago, this dialogue with the EU was unimaginable. There are a number of reasons, and of course, Vladimir Putin is one of them because he strongly awakened the EU, but I must say that in this forum, along with what is happening with the European Commission, the new Growth Plan, and gradual integration, everything is very encouraging,” said Rama in a media appearance after the meeting.

“I am tragically optimistic about the future, for the future of Albania, whose place is undoubtedly in Europe, and we will fight every day, and a new path is now open for us,” declared Rama, referring to the fact that on October 15, Albania opened negotiations for the first cluster of chapters with the European Union.

Tirana has previously been a host of important activities of the European Union. Thus, on December 6, 2022, Tirana hosted for the first time in history, the EU-Western Balkans Summit, with the participation of all EU leaders and those of the Western Balkans, which was held for the first time in one of the region’s countries.

At this summit, EU leaders expressed their clear support for the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union. (November 8)
