Peters is well-known online for “looksmaxxing,” a self-improvement trend within the manosphere. He and other “looksmaxxers” extensively use anabolic steroids, peptides, cosmetic surgery, and employ the term “mogging,” meaning surpassing others in attractiveness. Peters has faced criticism for using racial and homophobic slurs, misogynistic remarks, and associating with antisemitic internet figures, although he claims to be apolitical.
“Was he hoping that French women would come along to feed his narcissism and his masculinist ego trip? He got thoroughly shut down,” Attal wrote.
The centrist presidential candidate, of Jewish and Russian Orthodox heritage and openly gay, became France’s youngest prime minister in 2024. He has utilized social media more than most French politicians, even engaging on Twitch.
During his visit to France, Peters remarked that Americans were more attractive because Europe’s “gene pool was devastated during WW2.”
He described France as having “no AC, terrible economy, horrible quality of living,” adding, “I’d be pissed too.” He expressed willingness to share his knowledge but felt the French did not appreciate it.
Attal’s remarks followed a French Senate report on looksmaxxing, which concluded such influencers are undermining France’s democratic system.
