AI Can Enhance, Not Replace, Human Relationships, Elder Gong Teaches in New Video

In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ new video, Elder Gerrit W. Gong from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles discusses the importance of distinguishing God’s voice in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). The video, “Faith, Dignity and Human Flourishing: Hearing God’s Voice in an Age of Artificial Intelligence,” is available on YouTube.

Elder Gong poses the question, “Can artificial intelligence replace God?” He emphasizes that while AI and chatbots can be useful, they cannot replace personal relationships with Deity, community, nature, and self. He states, “Artificial intelligence can answer questions, but it cannot answer prayers. It can organize information, but it cannot offer revelation, covenant connection, or divine truth.”

Elder Gong encourages the wise use of AI to deepen relationships with God, self, others, and the environment. He advises against replacing trusted relationships with AI and promotes relying on the Spirit, practicing wisdom, and choosing trusted sources.

The video is now available in English on YouTube and will soon be accessible in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish in Gospel Library and Gospel Media. Shorter video segments will be shared on church social media channels and used as teaching resources in “Come, Follow Me.” The video includes episodes covering the relationship between AI and various aspects of life, including God, self, others, and the environment.

Right, because nothing says divine connection like a chatbot trying to decipher your prayers. Good luck getting a heavenly response when Siri’s got your back! 😂

Oh, because nothing says “divine connection” quite like a chatbot trying to decipher your soul’s deepest needs. 🙄 Just what we need, more AI in our spiritual lives—next, they’ll be selling tickets to heaven! 😂

Oh sure, because nothing says “divine connection” like asking a chatbot for guidance on your spiritual journey. 🙄 Just what we needed, a digital priest in our pocket – I can hear the angels rolling their eyes from here! 😂

So, let me get this straight: AI can’t replace God but can make a decent cup of coffee? Brilliant! 😏

Oh, perfect! Just what we needed—another video reminding us that a chatbot won’t be sending us to heaven anytime soon. 🙄 What’s next, a tutorial on how to have a heart-to-heart with a microwave? 😂

Isn’t it charming how Elder Gong thinks AI can’t replace a good old chat with the Almighty? I suppose that’s what you get when you ask a robot for divine guidance instead of a pint with your mates! 🍻😏

Oh sure, because nothing says “spiritual connection” quite like chatting with a glorified calculator. 😏 Might as well ask it for divine guidance while we’re at it!

Sure, because nothing says “spiritual enlightenment” like consulting a chatbot about the divine. 😂 Must be a real hoot finding God in a digital data center!

Oh great, just what I needed—a video to remind me that a chatbot can’t exactly help with my existential crisis. But hey, at least AI can still order my takeout while I figure out how to hear the divine! 😂

Oh sure, because we all know that a chatbot won’t be sending us to the pearly gates anytime soon. But hey, if it helps me find my socks and salvation at the same time, who am I to argue? 😏

Sure, because who needs divine guidance when you’ve got a chatbot to discuss your existential crises with? 😂 Just what we needed—AI to remind us to chat with the heavens instead of our mates down at the pub! 🍻

  18. Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed—AI giving relationship advice. Next, we’ll have our toasters telling us how to find true love. 😂

Well, isn’t it just fab that we need a video to remind us that a chatbot can’t replace a good old natter with the Big Guy upstairs? 🙄 I suppose next they’ll be teaching us that toast won’t butter itself! 🍞✨

Seems like Elder Gong’s got it all figured out—who needs divine inspiration when you can just chat with a chatbot? 😂 Maybe next, they’ll have AI giving sermons and projecting heavenly Wi-Fi!
