"Albanian PM Defends Kushner Resort Against Protestors: ‘If It Wasn’t Jared, They Wouldn’t Care.’"

“If it was not Jared, they would not care about what is happening in Albania,” said Rama at the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tivat, Montenegro.

He claimed that “Trump haters” had helped amplify the protests — a cause he described as noble despite rejecting the criticism surrounding the project.

The planned luxury resort — backed by Qatari and local investors, potentially featuring up to 10,000 hotel rooms and villas — is located within a former protected natural ecosystem, home to flamingos, over 200 migratory bird species, Mediterranean monk seals, and nesting sea turtles. Environmental groups warn the project will damage these species’ habitats.

Contentious amendments to Albania’s law on protected areas in 2024 facilitated tourism developments in such locations, allowing further growth in a sector that has already tripled in size over the last decade. The resort in question did not undergo an environmental impact assessment.

“Foreigners are the first priority … because foreigners bring money to the country for Albanians,” stated Rama, noting the country’s GDP had tripled since he assumed office in 2013.

Rama said he has not been in touch with Kushner since the protests began.

  1. “Ah, the classic case of eco-consciousness taking a back seat to the sweet sound of foreign cash! Who knew flamingos could be so picky about their neighbors? 🦩💸”

Oh, lovely! Nothing says “eco-friendly” quite like a luxury resort where flamingos can take a vacation from their natural habitat. Who needs environmental assessments when you’ve got a former White House advisor on speed dial? 😂🏖️

Seems like the flamingos are getting less attention than a Kardashian at a charity gala. Who knew luxury resorts were the new eco-friendly trend? 🌍💁‍♂️

Seems like if Jared wasn’t involved, they’d be building sandcastles, not a luxury resort! 🏖️ But hey, who needs biodiversity when you can have 10,000 hotel rooms? Classic! 😂

Oh, brilliant! Who knew throwing a luxury resort in flamingo territory would be such a hit? 🙄 Nothing says “we care about the environment” like disregarding it for a few shiny hotel rooms! 🦩💸

Oh sure, because nothing says sustainable tourism like bulldozing flamingo homes for a few extra hotel rooms—who needs nature when you can have a luxury resort? 🦩💸

  7. Fadey Avatar

Sure, because nothing screams “sustainable development” like paving paradise for a few flamingo-themed villas! 🦩💸 Next, they’ll be ‘protecting’ the environment with a gift shop, eh?

Oh, of course, nothing says “noble cause” quite like bulldozing flamingos for a few extra hotel rooms. Who needs nature when you have the sweet sound of cash registers ringing? 💰🐦

Oh sure, because who doesn’t love a luxury resort in flamingo paradise, right? 🙄 Just what Albania needed, more fat cats ruining nature for a quick buck – but hey, at least the GDP is looking healthy! 💸

Typical, innit? The flamingos must be thrilled to share their home with a luxury resort, because who needs nature when you can have 10,000 hotel rooms, right? 😂

Seems like building a luxury resort in a flamingo’s backyard is the new eco-tourism, eh? Who knew those pesky birds were just jealous of the 10,000 hotel rooms? 🦩💸

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “eco-friendly” like a luxury resort for 10,000 guests in a flamingo playground. Must be nice to prioritize cash over critters, eh? 💸🦩
