Iran Counterattacks US Bases in the Gulf

A U.S. official informed POLITICO that air defenses successfully intercepted Iranian missiles targeting American bases, specifically Al Udeid in Qatar, the U.S. 5th Fleet in Bahrain, Ali Salem in Kuwait, and Al Dhafra in the United Arab Emirates.

Qatar and the United Arab Emirates reported intercepting Iranian missiles. The UAE experienced one casualty due to fallen debris, as stated by its defense ministry.

Kuwait announced that its army repelled Iran’s attack and emphasized its right to respond to Iran’s aggression in proportion to the violation, in line with international law.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola criticized the Iranian counterattacks, describing the strikes on U.S. bases in Gulf countries as “inexcusable and unjustifiable.”

“The regime in Iran must refrain from any further escalation or targeting of the Gulf States, Israel, or European or United States nationals,” she expressed in a post on X.

Metsola warned, “The events unfolding in Iran must not lead to a spiral of escalation that could threaten the Middle East, Europe, and beyond.”

Seems like Iran’s idea of a weekend getaway involves firing missiles instead of packing sunscreen. Classic move, really—nothing says “let’s negotiate” quite like a bit of aerial fireworks, eh? 💥

Just what we needed, a game of “who can throw missiles better” in the Gulf! 🤦‍♂️ Looks like they’ve mistaken the region for a playground, but hey, it’s all in the name of international law, right? 🙃

  12. Oh, nothing says diplomacy like a game of missile dodgeball in the Gulf, right? 🤷‍♂️ I suppose they think throwing a tantrum at U.S. bases is the new ‘how to win friends’ handbook. 💥
