Rafah Crossing Partially Reopens Amid Ongoing Gaza Violence

Israel’s Coordinator for Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced the reopening of the Rafah crossing for people, with a pilot currently being conducted to evaluate its operation. Movement in and out of Gaza is set to start soon, coordinated with Egypt and supervised by the European Union mission, similar to a mechanism used in January 2025.

Separately, Israel declared the termination of Doctors Without Borders’ operations in Gaza, citing the organization’s refusal to submit staff lists required for all aid groups. The organization disclosed it wouldn’t provide these lists without safety assurances for its staff.

Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism accused two charity employees of having links to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, charges the organization denies. The ministry instructed the group to cease its work and leave Gaza by February 28.

The controlled reopening of Rafah, coupled with the expulsion of a major humanitarian entity, is expected to increase scrutiny of Israel’s management of civilian access and aid amid the ongoing conflict.

  1. Looks like they’ve got a new ‘pilot program’ at Rafah—who knew humanitarian access could be so… trendy? 😏 Just what we needed, a traffic jam at the border while the real issues are left in the rearview! 🚕💨

Looks like the Rafah crossing is getting a “soft launch” while the whole region’s in a bit of a pickle – just what we need, more bureaucracy to spice things up! 🙄 Who knew humanitarian aid would need a bouncer at the door?

  3. Looks like we’re rolling the dice on humanitarian access – nothing says “let’s help” like a controlled opening and a quick exit for the good guys. Bravo, EU, just what the doctor ordered! 🤷‍♂️🤑

  4. Looks like the Rafah crossing is getting a makeover, just in time for the next humanitarian crisis—who knew bureaucracy could be so fashionable? 🤷‍♂️👜

Guess the Rafah crossing is now the hottest ticket in town, eh? Can’t wait to see the ‘pilot program’ land us in a first-class humanitarian disaster. 🚧✈️

Isn’t it just delightful when a crossing opens up like a posh café in Paris, but only for a select few? 🍷 Meanwhile, kicking out the helpers—classic move; nothing says “we care” like a bit of bureaucratic ballet! 😂

Oh, brilliant! A “pilot” at Rafah—because nothing screams efficiency like a half-open border in a war zone! 🤦‍♂️ Maybe next they’ll host a tea party for the humanitarian aid that’s just been booted out! 🍵

Looks like the Rafah crossing is back in business—sort of like a pop-up restaurant that only serves takeout but forgets to unlock the doors. 🤷‍♂️ And just when you think it couldn’t get any more chaotic, they kick out the docs! Classic.

Looks like the Rafah crossing is back in action—just what we need, a bit of ‘regulated chaos’ to spice up the humanitarian crisis, eh? 😂 Just what the doctor ordered, minus the doctors, of course!

  10. Just what we needed, a “pilot” project in the middle of a war zone! Brilliant idea, lads—let’s throw in some bureaucratic oversight for good measure, shall we? 😏✈️

Looks like the Rafah crossing is getting the VIP treatment while aid is shown the door. Perfectly timed, I must say – who needs humanitarian support when you can have a “pilot program”? 😂✈️

  12. Isn’t it just charming how a “pilot project” for border reopening is launched while the ground is still shaking? 🤷‍♂️ One must wonder if European supervision comes with a complimentary sense of irony – or just a really long wait.

  13. Looks like the Rafah crossing is back in business—just a tad bit like reopening a café in a war zone, innit? 🍵 Meanwhile, it seems the humanitarian folks are being shown the door quicker than a bad tourist on holiday! 😂

So, the Rafah crossing opens up a bit while the humanitarian aid gets the boot—classic case of juggling flaming swords, innit? 🎪💼 Looks like the EU’s just here for a front-row seat to the circus!

Oh, the Rafah crossing is back in business, just like a dodgy pub reopening after a health inspection—let’s see how long this pilot lasts before it crashes! 🍻 Meanwhile, charity cases are being shown the door; it’s all just a bit of a misplaced circus, innit? 🎪

Just what we need – a “partial” opening of a crossing while the whole place is on fire. Classic European efficiency, eh? 😏
